Mark has practiced power vinyasa yoga for over 15 years—and has over 13 years of experience teaching. He started practicing power yoga in 1999 as a means to lose weight and get back into gymnastics which he had loved as a kid. Along the way, he not only lost nearly 50 lbs, but he also found yoga to be a passion and a calling.

Jenni began practicing yoga in 2001. She started with DVDs, as there were no yoga studios near where she lived. She moved to Evansville in 2003 and was excited to find Yoga 101. When she first started practicing hot yoga it was for the workout aspect, but over time it became something that has created more awareness in both herself and in how she treats herself—and how she sees and relates to others.

Chrissie Maslan, Instructor: RYT 200

Chrissie Maslan began practicing hot yoga in 2001 and instantly loved it. With a background in personal training, yoga felt like the perfect complement to her existing fitness routine. She has continued practicing over the years, even through the demands of raising six children.

What began as a workout evolved into something much deeper—yoga became her therapy. It offers her the “me” time that brings balance and quiet to her mind. In 2014, Chrissie earned her yoga teacher certification to share her love of the practice with others. Outside of Yoga101, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their six children.

Nicole Tibbs, Instructor: RYT 200/500

Nicole Tibbs discovered hot yoga in the summer of 2000 and fell in love with it instantly. No other form of exercise had ever revealed so much about who she was—her strengths and weaknesses surfaced within just a few classes. What began as a physical challenge quickly evolved into something much deeper. Through the practice, she discovered a renewed connection to herself and her spirit by becoming more attuned to her body.

In 2001, Nicole completed a 9-week training at Bikram's Yoga College of India in Los Angeles. In the years that followed, she traveled with her teacher, Jimmy Barkan, assisting at posture clinics and workshops. She loves teaching students of all levels and feels energized witnessing others experience the life-changing, transformational power of yoga.

Elizabeth Baker, Instructor: RYT 200

Elizabeth Baker took her first yoga class at Yoga101 over a decade ago and was immediately hooked. No other form of movement has challenged her physically, mentally, and spiritually the way hot yoga does. As she’s gotten older, the practice has helped her stay in shape, remain calm and focused, and keep her spirit renewed.

For Elizabeth, the hot yoga room is where she feels most authentic—because in that space, there's no room for pretense. That deep connection inspired her to earn her yoga teacher certification and share the practice with others, helping them connect to their own true selves.

She is a 200-hour CYT and NuPower Yoga Certified instructor. Outside the studio, her greatest joys are her three wonderful sons.

DeWayne Todd, Instructor: RYT 200

DeWayne Todd took his first yoga class in 2013 and immediately fell in love with the hot yoga practice at Yoga101. Over time, yoga helped him grow stronger, more flexible, and more at peace—both on and off the mat. He found the mental and physical focus cultivated in the hot room to be an experience unlike any other.

Motivated to give back a piece of what yoga had given him, DeWayne completed his 200-hour Hot 26 Teacher Certification in 2020. He continues to deepen his knowledge through the guidance of skilled teachers and the presence of inspiring students. In every class he leads, DeWayne brings a spirit of fun, inclusivity, and support.

Emily Mills, Instructor: RYT 200

Emily Mills began her yoga journey with her first class at Yoga101 in 2006. She walked into the studio with a mix of excitement, fear, and intimidation—but immediately felt at home. As a retired competitive gymnast and cheerleader, she knew hot yoga would benefit her physically. What surprised her was the immediate sense of mental and emotional peace it brought—something she had only read about before but never truly experienced.

With every class, Emily finds herself in her “happy place,” whether she’s teaching or practicing. Her favorite remains the 101 sequence, which continues to challenge her flexibility, strength, endurance, balance, and focus.

Lori Pierre, Instructor: RYT 200

Lori Pierre was introduced to hot yoga in 2014 by her trainer as a complement to weight training. By 2016, she had fallen in love with the practice and was on her mat nearly every day. She completed her teacher training in November 2021, eager to deepen her practice and share her love of yoga with others.

In May 2022, Lori was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy that July. Just four weeks after surgery, she returned to the hot room, practicing with modifications. She credits her regular yoga practice with the speed and ease of her recovery, regaining full mobility and strength through continued movement and breathwork. Yoga also became a tool to calm her mind during a deeply stressful time.

To Lori, the instructors and students at Yoga101 are like family—they supported her through one of the hardest seasons of her life. When she’s not in the studio, she loves spending time with her husband, their four children, and her son-in-law.

Charley Todd, Instructor: RYT 200

Charley Todd took her first yoga class at Yoga101 in 2014—a hot yoga class that left her unsure but intrigued. Driven by her love of a challenge, she continued exploring the practice and began attending regularly in 2016. What she discovered was far more than a workout—hot yoga became a powerful tool for healing her mind, body, and spirit.

The hot room offered her a rare chance to disconnect from the demands of work and family, creating a focused space for self-growth. Through her practice, Charley gained strength, flexibility, and stability. It helped heal physical injuries and brought clarity to her thoughts, allowing her to refocus on what truly matters.

In 2020, she deepened her commitment by earning her 200-hour Hot 26 Teacher Certification—a challenging and deeply rewarding milestone. Today, whether practicing or teaching, Charley aims to honor the body, nurture resilience, and guide others in finding balance and peace.

In 2024, Amy completed her Hot 26 and Yin Yoga teacher training with Jenni Juhl and Cindy Lunsford. Her passion for movement and storytelling carries into all parts of her life. Jessica Teagardner, Instructor: RYT 200

Jessica Teagardner first fell in love with the idea of yoga in 2020—seeking reconnection, healing, and change. But it wasn’t until she found Yoga101 in 2022, after moving to Evansville, that she truly began her practice. From the first class, something clicked. Yoga became more than a workout—it became a path forward.

After years of military service and exploring countless therapy options for PTSD, Jessica discovered a sense of peace on the mat that she hadn’t experienced anywhere else. Since beginning her teaching journey in 2024 at Yoga101, she has lost 168 pounds and found a renewed purpose through movement, breath, and community.

Whether practicing or teaching, Jessica shows up with heart. Her classes are built on energy, connection, and the life-changing power of yoga.

  • Yoga Certification: RYT 200

Harini Lakshmanan, Instructor: RYT 200

Harini was first introduced to yoga through her training in Indian classical dance. As a performer, she used yoga to build stamina, support her breath, and stay grounded on stage. But years later—after becoming a mother—yoga became something more: a way back to herself.

With over 15 years of experience as a performing artist and five as a dance teacher, Harini brings a deep sense of rhythm, grace, and intention to her classes. She earned her yoga teacher certification to expand her impact beyond the stage and into the studio. Her goal is to help others reconnect to their bodies, rediscover their joy, and move through life with greater presence.

She believes in creating safe, empowering spaces—on the mat and beyond.

Amy completed her 200-hour teacher training in 2025 under the mentorship of Mark at Evansville Power Yoga. Her teaching invites students to reconnect with their bodies, breath, and personal truth. Off the mat, she enjoys tending her garden, raising her three children, and helping clients embrace the full spectrum of pleasure, presence, and self-discovery.

FAQs

Students at Yoga 101  range in age from 17 to 89, and most started with us as beginners. Our classes are taught with the goal of making yoga accessible to as many people as possible. We welcome beginners and offer Classic Hot and Slow Power classes, especially for those who are new to yoga.

We encourage students to respect their current fitness level to allow their practice and ability to grow in a natural way. We'll work with you to make sure that happens.

Wear clothing that's appropriate for sweating and moving. If you're attending a chair yoga class, then there's almost no sweat—so simple athletic clothing that allows for movement would be fine.

We're not  "group fitness" —  we're not choreographed to music.

Bring a mat. (If you don't have one, you may rent a quality Jade mat from us for $3 for use during the class.)

Towels are provided for class use, free of charge.

Bring water, perhaps an electrolyte drink. These are available for purchase at the desk.

You have a choice!

  • the Bikram and Barkan inspired classes are in a typical hot environment of 105°.
  • Hot Power classes are at 95°
  • Slow Power classes are taught around 88°
  • and all other classes are taught around 78°
